External LaCie harddrive and KINGSTON USB-stick

I got my package from Datakjeden today. I put my order up on sunday so the handling and shipment has been great.

The disk looks pretty awesome, like glas and has the same elegance as an iPhone. Unfortunately the blue light is blinking when the disk is working. I wouldn’t mind if it was still during usage. Something other that bothers me is the noise, it produce some ugly noises, but was really expecting. Partition tables on is another chapter, you can view it on the image in my gallery below.

KINGSTON 8GB DataTraveler works awesome, it’s fast enough and work like it should despite it’s plastic-feel. All in all is the devices great for it’s prices and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy them again.

HP Photosmart C4380

Got my new printer today. Shortly after unpacking it I hooked it up and setup it on my windows-partition. Basically because I didn’t have time to see if HP or anyone else had setup software for it on Linux.

The cool thing about this cheap printer is WiFi. It has WLAN which can be turned physically on/off. After it was connected to my network, I did like 5 mouse-clicks and the printer was wirelessly installed in Ubuntu.

Scanning did also work (in Ubuntu) wirelessly, which was pretty cool. It’s a joy to see Ubuntu managing these things just as good and in my opinion; easyer than windows.

Thumbs up for HP Photosmart C4380. Don’t be frighten to buy, even if you’re a tux.

Broke my cellphone, replaced with a broken(!=?) iPhone

Monday, August 4th, 2008

The other day I slammed my Nokia E65 on my table, breaking the screen. It still works, but the screen is entierly black. Don’t have a device to take a picture or video of it, but you get the picture..

I had to get another cellphone anyways. This phone was pretty buggy and beaten up already so I ordered myself an Apple iPhone 3G from the only distributor of it in Norway, Netcom.

I received the phone on saturday and was really excited about it. I booted it up and everything looked perfect. After browsing this wonder I had to try the iPod-part, since I’ve never used an iPod before (yeah, never). I shutdown Ubuntu and booted windows to access iTunes to be able to sync my music. What’s up with that? there isin’t only two OS’s in this world you know.

Back on track; I transfered some mp3′s over and tried to play them, but no sound, hmm. Making a long story short; my Apple iPhone 3G’s speaker was/is dead. And since it only has one speaker (one microphone and one speaker), I’m screwed.

The phone is going back to Moobi to be replaced with an working iPhone 3G ASAP.

Unboxing RC-parts package

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

After an ugly crash with my T-rex 450 I managed to strip an Hitec 65MG (as in metal gear) for the first time. It was a new milestone for me. I was going to order a new set of gears from Elefun, but they were out of stock. I contacted them and was told the distributor was out of stock. It could take weeks before I could have the bird back in the air. Something I didn’t want to risk before the next indoor RC meeting.

It all boils down to my order over the seas which just arrived. Let’s take a look, shall we?

The box should contain:

  • 2 x Deans Female Plug
  • 1 x Futaba S9257 Servo EP Heli Digital Rudder (Gyro Servo)
  • 2 x Hitec HS65 Metal Gear Servo HS65MG METAL GEAR SERVO
  • 4 x Hitec HS65 Metal Gear Set – METAL GEAR SET
  • 1 x Hitec Servo Gear Grease 3GR
  • 2 x HMXE9711 Heli-Max Guide Pulley MX400/Trex 450
  • 1 x Hobbico LCD Digital Mini Tachometer Mini Tach
  • 3 x HS1159-01 315mm PRO Rotor Blades White/Red
  • 1 x HS1237 Align 450 SE V2 Canopy
  • 1 x Kong Power 2200mAh TX Pack for Spektrum, Futaba, JR
  • 2 x Kong Power 3s1p 11.1v 2200mAh 25C Lipo Battery
  • 1 x Kong Power 3s1p 11.1v 2200mAh 25C Lipo Battery
  • 1 x Kong Power 6s Charger KP-100W6
  • 2 x Kong Power Battery Bridge
  • 1 x Mavrikk Drive Belt 397T (High Strength) Fits TREX 450 SE
  • 1 x Series Deans 2 to 1 Adapter
  • 2 x Spartan Adhesive Foam Gyro Tape Set
  • 4 x TREX 450 V2 Head Dampener Upgrade – Red Dampers by Trueblood

I had some minor problems with my new T-rex 450 SE v2, the belt kept jumping off. I solved it by removing the idle-pulley, but now have I bought a replacement for it which looks to do the job.

Three servos for my old t-rex 450, one tail servo and two for cyclic. Also added servo grease for the servo I will be changing gear on.

The transmitter (later refereed as TX) battery, 2200mAh 11.1v Kong Power battery. I’ve read about someone running theirs for 5 weeks without charging. I guess mine won’t last that long since I use my TX on the simulator as well.

Almost forgot to add the charger and lipo. This is the best charger I have ever used. I might do a review of it some day.
